Country / Rockabilly / Roots
am going to be crossing off some things from my bucket list the next couple of months,
including the addition to our famly around September 4th! So much to put in this
On the weekend of June 21, 22 I'm heading up to Minnesota to
be the guest of country music artist David Church on an upcoming taping of the Midwest
Country show which airs on the RFD TV cable network. So if you have RFD TV stay
tuned and I'll announce when our episode airs. This is an incredible honor!
Special thanks to David and Terri Church for the opportunity!
On Thursday, July 10th we are playing a very special benefit for
Jonah's Journey. This is a ministry
of Christian caregivers who
provide temporary or long-term care for children of mothers who are incarcerated
or unable to care for them for any number of reasons. Another exciting thing about
this particular show is that we are partnering with the legendary Manuel Couture
clothing store in Nashville! Manuel is a country music clothing designer legend
who has designed many of the outfits worn by Johnny Cash, Porter Wagoner, and more!
Every month his store on Broadway does a "Music Loves Fashion" benefit
and I'm am thrilled they are giving us this opportunity to choose a charity/ministry
to raise some money for and get their stories out there. I am very familiar with
the work Jonah's Journey is doing. Several of my friends including one of my
best friends and my original drummer; Parker Manuel and his wife both have custody
of two precious little boys who were potentially destined for a wild ride in the
state run foster program. Instead these boys are being raised in a stable Christian
home with lots of love and care. There are plenty of stories like this one and we
hope to shed light on them and have several folks there at the show that night to
represent Jonah's Journey and all the work they do. Hope you can make it out,
it's only $5! Check out more info at http://www.jonahsjourney.org
Also, after playing the 3rd Thrusday on the Square in Gallatin, TN on July
17th, W.S. "Fluke" Holland, the band, and I will be headed to Renfro Valley,
KY to play a spotlight show in the old barn! This show will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday,
July 19th. If you are close enough to make the trip I can promise this is one show
you don't wanna miss! I remember looking at a brocure of Renfro Valley when
I was 15 and dreaming of the day I might play there. No doubt there was some Cash
music playing in the background (as usual) and I had no idea that not only would
I play there, but I would do so with Johnny's drummer! Looking forward to this
And lastly... I've been honored (not to overuse the word, but I cannot
say it any other way) to be apart of the highly acclaimed "Nashville Uneashed"
roster for several years now and I've had the priviledge of playing lots of
great shows and shared stages with some incredible singers/songwriters that are
on the roster as well. The audiences that come out to see "Nashville Unleashed"
are so engaging and so supportive of the artisits. This show, started by my friends
Jack and Diane, is now going to television! On July 22nd I'll be apart of taping
an episode that will be played on a cable network on your TV! Soon we will be announcing
the networks the Nashville Unleashed show will be played on this fall. If you don't
have cable, no worries! You can catch the show at http://www.nashvilleunleashed.com
after it airs.
When I got into this business my dad gave me this metaphor; he said I basically
went out into the woods and took on a HUGE tree to cut down! He said that I would
see many folks accomplish their goals and cut their trees down along the way and
that it will be easy to get discouraged and want to set down my ax and go find a
smaller tree to work on. Well I am still here swingin' and I believe with all
my heart that, along with those who have joined me, we are starting to see the wood
chip and fly more and more! I have no idea when the tree is going to fall but regardless
I'm VERY thankful for all these opportunites ahead and I hope to see many of
you moving forward!
Thanks for your support,
"Adam Pope’s The America That I Know EP opens with almost two minutes of
historical moments recorded during pivotal times in the United States. From there
Adam rolls into the first song, “The America That I Know.” Having written
all the songs, Adam delivers a heartfelt performance on the material crafted from
his beliefs and thoughts about America. “This Song’s For The Man”
will resonate with people across the country." Brenda Madden, Country Entertainment USA
"Adam Pope is more
than just another country songwriter from the south. He creates music that I think
people of this genre have been craving for a while now. Progressive, but traditional.
It is easy to tell that Adam has been influenced by the country greats, and he does
them justice with his songs." Paul Ruth, "The Independent Music Scene"
"A little country,
a little rockabilly, a little roots, a little humor, a little love, a little lonely,
ALOT of entertainment!" Steve, "Overheard in the alley of my mind"
