Dear Friends, Welcome to Fall! Amy & I are excited to announce
the completion of our first EP Roadside Flowers. A week before
our anniversary this past month we assembled some great talent including
Sol Roots, nationally touring blues and soul artist, who found time in
between gigs to record the mini record right in our living room! Bobby Birdsong
joined us on pedal steel guitar adding ghostly country riffs to the first track
of the record called "Crown of The Highway" (Click on "Play
Songs" on the left side of this e-mail to listen to "Crown
of the Highway" and download it for FREE all October long!). The session
ended with an impromptu gospel-style hymn called "The Hour of My Deliverance"
in which mics were assembled all around a slightly out of tune piano while everyone
sang and harmonized. What we were left with were four solid tracks -
raw and unvarnished, but filled with great love and spirit. This is how
records USED to be made and we are so thrilled to get to share these songs with
you at upcoming gigs and house concerts. Which brings me next to our next big show! On
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12TH at Franklin Park Arts Center in Purcellville, VA we will
be sharing the stage with local rockabillies Andy Hawk & The
Train Wreck Endings as well as Amy's other band, the venerable Whiskey Darlings.
This gig will definitely be our biggest of the year! If you've never
checked out the Franklin Park Arts Center it's definitely worth the trip --
a cool old barn reconverted for concerts and art exhibitions. On the
12th you will also get a chance to view (and purchase if you so wish!) some of our
friend Peter Wood's amazing sculptures in the lobby of the arts center. Preview
Peter's intriguing, contemporary work here at www.rustymetal.com Peter has kindly offered to
sponsor the event along with other great Middleburg businesses like Betsey,
our favorite chic clothing boutique, the Middleburg Country Inn, and Shamrock Music
in Purcellville. With that much local support, you know we are going
to sing and play our hearts out! Tickets are $10 ($5 for students/veterans) and
can be purchased at the door, through myself, or by calling the box
office. Here's all the info you need to plan your visit: http://www.franklinparkartscenter.org/planyourvisit/directions.shtml
Music kicks off promptly at 8pm. Yeeeeee-haw! Thanks for your continued interest and support. Our music
is truly "homegrown" and we are very much a product of all the love and
friendship we are blessed with through all of you. Whether it's a big
stage like Franklin Park or a small coffee house like Common Grounds in Middleburg
where you'll find us playing more regularly in the coming months, we love getting
the chance to share what we care about with the people we care about. Here's
to a great Fall season with more time with all of you brought together by the magic
- and I am certain it is magic - of music. With love and respect, Jamie & Amy, The Crooked Angels
