Now on his 8th album, count ‘em kids…8th album, this New Yorker can boast strings like early REM, melodies like Fleet Foxes and a voice like Christian Slater. It makes sense, trust us. Robust and manly, his songs are a softened blow for a San Franciscan wonder year and a peppered collection of everything good circa 1983. You can pick out influences such as Jeff Buckley and Chris Whitley, but Mike Borgia in general represents a far broader style of Americana, an amicable and widely loved sound that can encompass almost anything that falls under the heading of good rock music.
