The High and Mighties is a reggae-rock band from Chapel Hill, NC composed of players picked from various groups and ensembles that have been performing in the southeast for the last decade. For them playing music is a way of life.
They strive to create an atmosphere where we all celebrate the joy of the human situation -- the fact that it is impossible to have happiness without sadness or love without loss. The inspiration for their material comes from friends, family and other bands. Invariably more sweet than bitter, their music deals with themes that we can all relate to and appreciate.
The High and Mighities have recently released their first album, Mighty High! Radioindy.com praises the band for “concoct[ing] a delightful new sound with soothing vocals and artistic lyrics,” calling the album “a pioneering collection [of songs] with awesome solos and a groove that is simply contagious.”
The new cd ventures into hip-hop, funk, straightforward rock and pop. Featuring a “horn section that has chops to spare and interweaves in the adept arrangements in a way that most other bands will never achieve,” it is “full of upbeat, uplifting songs” and “does more than its' share to keep the spirit of American [reggae]-rock alive and well.”
