Her followup, A New Light from 2004, consists of songs for worship and meditation, primarily Psalms and Jewish liturgical prayers set to music. Several of the songs are being used in congregations of various denominations.
Her latest project is Bridges to Burn and combined previously-unreleased new material with re-recorded versions of songs from Candle. Again, Paula deals with life, love, and social issues, from the introspective title track to the poweful "Why He Cries," a song which personifies the sadness of the Almighty looking at the mess we've made of the world.
Paula's work has taken a turn towards social justice, in no small part due to her active involvement in the peace movement and a variety of other causes such as poverty and the environment. "That's My Boy" has been brought up to date as a lament by a mother of any soldier of any ethnicity. New songs face specific issues head on, such as "Marching in the Street" and "Butterflies and Rainbows," about the effects of the Tar Sands development in Alberta.
