Our commitment to the Education of Young Children in America is the reason we are The Battersby Duo. Our message is simple; Be happy, love life, and love education. Our "tongue in cheek" Monty Python style has earned us a reputation that has far exceeded our wildest expectations. Our simple songs encourage and nurture young minds; Our humor has tickled the odd funny bone. Thanks to the millions of Kids, Parents, and Teachers whom we have had the privilege of calling our Friends for the past 2 decades. And welcome to our web site.
Winners of 3 Parents Choice Awards and an Emmy, The Battersby Duo is considered to be one of the finest Musical Comedy Teams for Children and Families in the USA today. The Battersby Duo has been performing since the early 80's. Tim had been in Bands in England and the United States since the late 60's. He arrived in New York in 1972. Laura, a Sociologist, and Tim, an English Literature major met a few years later, while working at The Wayside Theatre in Virginia. A friend of theirs asked them to sing at their daughters 2nd birthday party. Not knowing any Kids songs at the time, they readily agreed (!!) and entertained 50 kids for an hour playing Beatles, Cat Stevens, The Who, The Stones and Credence Clearwater Revival. The Kids, the Parents and Tim and Laura had a blast. And so The BatDuo was born. The first payment they received was a "toaster oven." To this day it still hangs proudly on their office wall.
