Jeffery Vernon Strahan was born in Beeville, Texas and raised on the High Plains of Texas, just outside of Lubbock. Strahan left his home turf upon graduation from high school and moved to Austin where he sought fame and fortune with bands like Fever and The Rage. After several years of hard roadwork, 300 plus shows a year, a lot of fun, a little money, and some fame, Strahan wanted a new challenge. With some persistent persuasion from his father, Jeff returned to Texas Tech University in Lubbock and ultimately earned a Law Degree from St. Mary's University, San Antonio, TX in 1989.
Strahan was a successful lawyer in El Paso, TX from 1989 until 2000, but he eventually realized that the suit, tie, and desk thing were just not fulfilling his musical heart. In 2000, Strahan left his hectic law practice for the peace and solitude of Colorado where he began writing, recording, and performing music locally. His popularity grew into a devoted local following, then a regional following that has now developed into a multi-state fan base of die-hard supporters.
Fast-forward to the present, four albums later, Strahan is touring the Southern US regularly and performing over 200 shows a year. He has befriended and performed with Shemekia Copeland, Lee Roy Parnell, Rusty Wier, John Lee Hooker, Jr., Little Feat, David Allen Coe, and yes, Chubby Checker as well as many other greats. He was a “semi-finalist” at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2006, 2007, and 2008. Once Strahan has performed a venue, he has always been asked to come back! He is usually described as “having a lot of soul” and his music will give you chills. Strahan's approach to entertainment is as honest and driven as you can get. He gives 110% always!
