Singer/songwriter, cartoonist, humor writer... Roy Schneider is a multifaceted storyteller, and his belief is that good stories are always rooted in truth. That said, a favorite quote from Mark Twain:

“Get your facts first, and then you can distort 'em as much as you please.”

Striking a balance between universal human truths, personal experience, imagination, compassion and humor, Roy Schneider writes songs that speak to the down-to-earth person in each of us.

From being an ambitious middle school rock star wannabe to a long-term teenage runaway, to an underage union factory worker, to a smiling, penniless traveling Deadhead, through the stifling rigidity of corporate America and back again, through marriage, divorce, spiritual searches, single parenthood and national comic strip syndication, this guy has stories to tell; and with over 20 years’ dedication to fingerstyle and flat-picked guitar, harmonica and vocals, there’s no more complete way for him to tell them.

To name just a few of his countless musical influences: David Crosby, Guy Clark, Arlo Guthrie, Mississippi John Hurt, Tom Waits, John Sebastian, John Prine, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Jerry Garcia, Frank Zappa, Darrell Scott, John Hiatt, Django Reinhardt, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Bob Marley, David Grisman, Tony Rice and Leo Kottke.

Roy is based in Southwest Florida and carries many years of experience performing in festivals, events, house concerts, coffee shops, restaurants and bars. His original music has landed him spots as one of six finalists in the national Suwannee SpringFest songwriter's competition twice (2005 and 2006), has been played on syndicated radio show The Grateful Dead Hour, WGCU public radio (FL) and internet radio.
