About
Formed in the 70's The Buster James Band came out of the British rock & blues stable. They played the circuit to great crowd reaction and supported many top names from that era.Not only did their fans love them but members of other bands they played alongside such as Thin Lizzy & Steve Gibbons, were highly complimentary about their live shows. They signed a deal in the late 70's, recorded an album, but got tied down in management wrangles so the album was never officially released.....although it seemed to emerge on bootleg cassettes..how did that happen? The band continued to gig around the college and club circuit, headlining several times at the legendary Marquee club and playing to great response and rave reviews at other notable gigs such as The Music Machine (now Camden Palace)...Singer Roger James was called "the ultimate big-voiced crowd pleaser"by the music press at the time. Lack of product release slowed things down and the band came off the road in 1979. The start of the 80's saw them back with original members Roger James on vocals, bassist Chris Warnes,keyboardist/guitarist Richard(Dick)Young, and "the new boys"Mark Holmes on guitar & Paul Hale on drums. Various musicians came and went including guitarist Buzz Hunt who had played in a very early incarnation of the band. The Buster James band is still a great combination of soaring & driving guitars, huge vocals, powerhouse drums & bass with some arresting textures thrown in for good measure. They still play live shows to enthusiastic crowds in the same powerful style that has characterised the band for over 30 years.Once seen, never forgotten!!!!
