BUDDY WHITTINGTON
DEBUT SOLO ALBUM AND UK TOUR
Named by his boss as “possibly the best of them all”. And when the boss is John Mayall and the “all” includes Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, Walter Trout and Coco Montoya this is no lightweight accolade.
Having held the guitar chair in the Bluesbreakers since 1993, Buddy has steadily built up a huge legion of fans who have taken to his amazing Texan flavoured guitar playing and has become renowned for being “the king of tone” using just a Strat or custom built Scott Lentz guitar and his small all valve Dr Z amps. This tone and the light and shade that Buddy injects into his playing have earned him many plaudits, including an appearance in Guitarist Magazine's 100 Top Unsung Guitarists.
With a debut solo album and UK tour early this year (a first for any existing Bluesbreaker) Buddy is now set to propel himself out of “unsung” firmly into the mainstream.
As a bonus for British Blues fans, Buddy will be touring with old friends Pete Stroud and Roger Cotton both ex Peter Green Splinter Group, and drummer Darby Todd.
