Bucho is Ben Hansen, named Bucho by a large maori after the villain from the movie Desperado, because Ben is too ugly to be a hero. Half of his friends played guitar when he was at school but it wasn't until after he'd left that he finally picked one up himself, and, because he didn't have the skill to play anyone else's songs, he started making up his own.
