Southport Hall opened for business originally in the early 1900's, with it's prominent business nest stake operating as an illegal casino. A handful of clubs like Southport operated in "The Free State" of Jefferson during this time. But over more than a century Southport Hall is the only speak easy still standing. Southport has seen it's changing of the guard over the years and operated under many different names and business such as The Farrhad Grotto, Racketeers Pool Hall, Riverbend Gymnastics and Club De Luxe. The name was changed back to Southport Hall in early 2004 when it was purchased by sister and brother Catherine Bagnetto Foss and Charles Bagnetto Jr. The business is operated by two of Charlie's sons, Jay Bagnetto, General Manager / Private Parties and Mark Bagnetto, talent manager and advertising. In the past 8 years Southport has become a prominent destination for live music and private events. Housing national touring bands, local original rock and metal shows, and is home to most of the areas top cover bands, such as The MollyRingwalds, The Chee Weez, Category 6 and Groovy 7. Southport has grown into one of the most popular private event locations in all of New Orleans and Jefferson, doing all types of events, such as Weddings, Grammar and High School Reunions, Private and Company Crawfish Boil Parties, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Debutant Balls, Sweet 16's, High School Prom's and Graduation Parties, baby showers and much more.
