“rooke Miller has been selected to showcase at ECMA 2011 on the Songwriter’s Circle stage. This announcement was made during a press conference on Friday at the Delta Prince Edward in Charlottetown. Way to go Brooke!!!”
“When Brooke Miller's fans speak up, she listens. After receiving requests from her listeners and internet followers for a more bare-bones record that showcased her strong guitar work, the PEI native answered with Shake it Off. "This is a very stripped down version of how the songs originate. My songs start with guitar and vocals, that's kind of how we treated them on this record, with tasteful inflections here and there." Her third album is also a debut of sorts; it marks her first effort as a producer, which likely won't be her last. "It was a new thing for me, but I felt like I could wear those shoes well." And she's got them tied up tight as 2011 has travel in store. After touring Shake it Off's sweet songs around Canada, Miller will touch down in Europe next summer.”
“I was once told that the first duty of an artist, regardless of his or her discipline, was to grow and to evolve. If that truly is the measure of an artist, then Brooke Miller has done what her craft demands of her. With each new recording she has built on the promise of her 2003 debut release, Lending An Hourglass. She has consistently taken her music to a higher level, experimenting with new sounds, new instruments and new ideas. That was the case with 2007’s critically acclaimed You Can See Everything. ”
““....Miller's vocals serve the melody and the lyrics with a modesty that lets them shine. But don't underestimate her voice & undeniable guitar skills. When Miller sings, it has the same effect as someone looking you straight in the eye. You believe her. “ ”
