Bio

Brigid Kaelin's new album, West 28th Street, is part country, party vaudeville, and all Americana, a style of music Brigid likes
to call "Alt-Country Cabaret."

Whether on piano, accordion, guitar, or the musical saw, Brigid has charmed audiences all over the world with her music and entertaining live show. She's been called "the Bette Midler of Alt-country" and was recently voted "Best Singer/Songwriter" in Louisville.

Brigid also loves playing keyboards/accordion/musical saw in other bands. In the past year, she has played with many bands including Peter Searcy, Seven Mary Three, Love Jones, Days of the New, and Elvis Costello & the Imposters.

About

Brigid Kaelin is a plucky redhead.

She made the front page of The Tennessean on her very first day playing Nashville, daring to play the accordion to country music during the finals of 2007 Nashville Star

Just this May, she wrote Elvis Costello a note offering her services as an Imposter, and he invited her to play live on-stage with his band without rehearsal.  She went head-to-head playing accordion with keyboardist Steve Nieve dueling solos, and received several standing ovations during her musical saw (yes, saw!) solo. The music reviewer said that “Kaelin managed to steal a little of the Costello’s show.”

She also put out a country Chanukah record, Mazel Tonk!, just for fun and yodeled about dreidels, and made a hilarious YouTube music video that received thousands of hits the first day.

You want to hate her because she’s so damn talented, but you have to love her because she’s so damn fun.

Kaelin’s new album, West 28th Street, is a ten-song independent release of Americana-pop with a touch of jazz -- alt-country cabaret.  A trained jazz pianist (she spent her days as a politics major at NYU playing showtunes at West Village cabarets), Kaelin is also a gifted storyteller with an ear for clever language.  Funny and charming, she has been called the "Bette Midler of alt-country."

In the past year, Brigid Kaelin has played accordion/piano/musical saw/ and sung with:

Elvis Costello and the Imposters Seven Mary ThreeDays of the NewMaceo Parker Love Jones and many others. She tours regularly as piano player for indie-rock legend Peter Searcy.
