Brian George Walton Jr. (born October 8, 1964) is an American country music recording artist and musician. He released his first album in 1991 (Made in the Shade) which included the top 5 hits Made in the Shade and Travelin' Band. Since then Brian has released 3 more albums, including the highly successful Made in the Shade Live! album. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist, Brian worked in Nashville and in Austin as a session musician and writer before he started working on his own projects. Brian studied music at Julliard and has been a respected and long time Songwriters Guild and ASCAP member. His current effort Kickin' it is in post-production and is due for release in May 2009

About

Early life:

Brian was born in Duarte, California. His parents divorced young and he and his siblings spent most of their childhood shuttling between the east and west coast of the United States. In order to escape this troublesome period, Brian began tinkering with every musical instrument he could get his hands on. His Father recognized the budding talent and enrolled Brian at John Marshal Fundamental Secondary School in Pasadena, California. There he took to the violin like a fish to water and became the schools leading soloist. In 1979 he was invited to become an American Music Association member after an impressive and highly publicized performance during a school concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

With AMA card in hand, Brian later managed to solicit a scholarship to the Julliard Conservatory in New York where he studied music theory. After Julliard, Brian packed up and went to Nashville to begin making a name for himself as a writer and session performer. But the economic times convinced him to put music aside and join the Military. He was later stationed Germany in 1982 where country music was the predominant force in the Armed Forces club scene. With his friends and family support he began recording the album Made in the Shade 1991 and was later signed to the now defunct Giessener Rundfunk label. Under his current joint venture with label Blue Rhino he has released two albums and a single with the long awaited Kickin' it album due for release in May 2009.

Career:

Brian's first album Made in the Shade was released in 1991 and produced the hit singles Made in the Shade and Travelin' Band. Both songs made it into the Top 5 of the German/American country charts, but had only limited success in across the ocean in the US. The release of his live album produced three number ones on the indie charts with Made in the Shade, Travelin' Band and Watch that girl go. The singles released off of upcoming album Kickin' it have all gone number one within the first three weeks. His latest single, I Love this Truck, premiered on the national country charts and is moving up quickly.

1990-2000

After leaving the military in 1986, Brian stayed in Germany and founded the band Bakersfield which became a hugely popular fixture in the Germany/American country music scene. Quite often visiting performers like; Johnny Paycheck, The Bellamy Brothers, Allison Kraus, Willy Nelson, Martina McBride, Dwight Yokum and Vince Gill would call on Brian and his band to either back them or front them at concert shows. During one such event, Brian was hired to perform with three different groups on the same night. This so impressed the German/American country music community that they awarded him the Most Versatile Musician award for 1991 and the Musician of the Year award two years in a row (1992/1993) for repeat performances. Brian was then recruited to join the then number two country band in the nation Westend. Where he performed until moving to the US in 2000.

2001-present

After returning to the US, Brian found pickings pretty slim, so he put performing aside and started writing again. Half way through an opportunity arose for Brian to hook up with some old friends and go on the road for a few shows in 2007. He had the foresight to record the performances and the resulting Made in the Shade Live! album became a huge success with almost every song hitting number one on the indie charts and sales equaling those of other nationally performing acts. The new found attention encouraged Brian to think about reviving his solo career and with the support of his family made the announcement in late 2008 that he would. In the few months since, Brian has racked up one success after another gaining the attention of the big wigs in Nashville and lots of national airplay.

Brian lives in beautiful Littleton, Colorado at the foot of the Rocky Mountains and together with his wife of 23 years owns and operates a successful Radio Station.

Awards and Honors:

Brian became one of the youngest inductees into the American Music Association at the age of twelve. He also received awards for being the most versatile musician in 1991 by the German Country Music Association, the musician of the year in 1991/1993 by the GCMA and special award as honorary musician of the Schleusinger Country Festival
