The recording of 'The Story of Marcus Beeman' by 'Desperate Images' is the first movement of a punk rock opera that never toured. Creator Gardner Graber, guitar and vocals, prematurely passed of a heart attack. He has done soundtracks for ESPN sports. Lee Danziger, bass, has done work for NBC studios. Lee Oesterle, keyboardist, has moved to Hawaii. Myself, Brad, is on drums. 1982.
Current:
series of poetry readings, and began providing improvised backing
tracks for the poets. They recorded LORALAII on 4-track and were
approached by Steve Murtaugh to join Orange Entropy Records. A live
performance was called for, and Steve joined on guitars. The band
debuted onstage in February 1999 at the City Gardens in New Jersey and
has rolled on since, losing some but gaining others.
Band Members: Lora Bloom, vocals and guitar; Dan "Redbeard" Baker on
guitar and vocals; Kenny Brown on electronics, theremin and harmonica,
tom drum, and whatnot; Matt Stevenson on bass and keyboards; Lisa
"Sunshine" Spera on drums and electric fiddle; and Brad Rothman on
drums.
Operating from their West Philly stronghold/recording studio, the band
has several albums available: LORALAII, BEAUTIFUL LOSERS, STRENGTH, MONKEY ISLAND, and THE CRUEL TUTELAGE OF MASTER HOTEI OR WHO IS TOULOUSE TURAC?
Members of the band have released other albums: Matt collected two electronic efforts as Burning Machine, SEAN'S KITCHEN and BURNING MACHINE ; Kenneth's EXTREMIST releases are obtainable only by occult means) Redbeard has a lot in his back pages, with his own solo songs and sonic experiments as well as material with Sleepy Company and Apogee (also including Matt); check his myspace pages, and also boilingacid.com, and keep your ear to the ground for a new project in the works; and Lisa Sunshine is an accomplished songwriter, guitarist, and solo performer in her own right.
