Q: What inspired you to write "Swamp Legend" (Four Coachmen) back in 1954?

A: My Aunt Hester Whitemore was a singer songwriter and inspired me to write starting at 10 yrs old. I was sneaking out to sing at a Club in KC.MO. where i met a high school friend Don Winsell, a guitar player and we wanted to try to write a song for the folk musicians who were starting to make noise in 1954. I was interested in swamp and southern culture and just made up the story for the song.
