“Over freshly pressed cider and homemade soups, a nonstop crowd of about 1,000 visitors churned butter, dipped candles and relaxed to the Blue Mountain Junction Band's bluegrass tunes Sunday at the Old Dry Road Farm's Harvest and Acoustic Music Festival. The annual festival is the only day of the year when the Lower Heidelberg Township farm is open to the public, giving visitors the chance to take tours of the Hottenstein Homestead and its 18th-century log cabins recovered from land that is now the Blue Marsh Lake. ”

“Music Live entertainment is continuous on a Main Stage and secondary stage. Nine groups perform daily — with a few exceptions on the Main Stage, including the Sauerkraut Brass Band, with its traditional "oom-pah!" music, and the folk bands the Celtic Martins and Blue Mountain Junction. Guest performers include the Ed Goldberg & Odessa Klezmer Band and the Zepp Family Band, featuring two young sisters and two brothers performing traditional bluegrass gospel on guitar, fiddle, bass, mandolin, occasionally banjo and even trumpet. On the Hoedown Stage, the Miller Family is back leading hoedowns four times a day.”

“About 300 people attended a benefit chicken dinner and concert Saturday in Mohrsville and raised an estimated $3,000 for refugees of the Haiti earthquake, according to Pastor Steven D. Buerer. The event at Schuylkill Valley Bible Chapel featured performances by Blue Mountain Junction of Hamburg, Keystone Mountain Way of Mohrsville, The Churchmen from Virginia, The Haiti Quartet from the chapel and Berks County Commissioner Christian Leinbach & Friends. All proceeds from the event will help feed earthquake refugees who fled the capital, according to Buerer, who plans to lead a local group of missionaries to Les Cayes in the south of Haiti in September. Businesses that donated items included Redner's Markets, Zimmerman Farms, Van Bennett Food Co., Maier's Bakery, Clover Farms Dairy, Chick-Fil-A and Jim Weaver, who barbecued 300 half-chickens. ”
