Details
Directions from Cloudcroft: From James Canyon Highway in Cloudcroft, turn south on to the 130. Drive approximately 2 miles to the turnoff to the Sunspot Scenic Byway (NM State Road 6563). Drive about 30 miles, staying on the same road which will become County Road C001 (also known as 537) and will take you all the way into Timberon. Note: The road from Cloudcroft to Timberon was paved in 2005 but the online maps, GPS software and the like are not quite up to date yet. Taking the GPS directions may bring you up a very rough dirt road (locally known as ‘the back way’) recommended for 4WD vehicles only. The common route is to enter from Cloudcroft, using the directions above.
