About

Bess Rogers returns this year with her much-anticipated sophomore offering ‘Travel Back’ - an EP recorded in Brooklyn, New York under the stewardship of friend/producer Dan Romer and steeped in the familiar, genre-transcending effortlessness fans have come to expect from this elegant songstress.

Having broken countless moulds with her independently-released debut album ‘Decisions Based on Information’, Bess has exploited a new and exciting maturity within her writing this time round and her latest work stands up as her finest to date - quite a declaration given the fact she began writing and composing songs around the same time most teenagers were succumbing to the pitfalls of puberty.

Stunning in its simplicity, ‘Travel Back’ possesses immeasurable potential. From the dark, compelling ‘Bulldozer’ to the rousing exuberance of ‘I Don’t Worry’, this latest record encapsulates everything that's great about Bess’ approach to song writing. Not content with simply producing good, yet somewhat unforgettable tunes, she continuously challenges herself to produce something distinctive and recognisable as her own.

In accordance with her own burgeoning solo career, Bess has also worked collectively with some of the city’s brightest stars in Jenny Owen Youngs and Ingrid Michaelson - accompanying the latter in a series of prime-time television appearances as well as opening for the Dave Matthews Band.

Born into a family rich in musical traditions, you could argue it was written in the stars that Bess would follow in those time-honoured footsteps. She began playing her father’s hand-built harpsichords at the tender age of six and her passion for music was awoken. Some years later, after receiving her degree in Music and Studio Composition, Bess settled in Brooklyn and - before too long - became a mainstay within New York’s vibrant music scene.

Her name has since become synonymous with some of the cities most notable music spots including ‘The Living Room’ and ‘Piano’s’. Now, as she begins to receive the exposure and recognition her work justifies, and coinciding with the release of ‘Travel Back’, Bess will embark on her first solo tour this summer.
