Brittany Frompovich hosts another “house concert” style show at Forte Music. Our concert lineup features bassists from all over the country; Darren Michaels returns from Atlanta, GA, bringing his funky grooves and organic, original songwriting. Ben Titus stops in from Milwaukee, WI with his rock/jazz/fusion soaked approach to originals and cover songs. Scott Griffin joins us from Virginia Beach for a debut solo bass performance. Brittany Frompovich will offer up poignant and earthy performances both electric bass and the electric upright. Please bring a dish to share, and a $10 donation at the door is recommended…this goes to help cover the artists’ travel expenses.

Virginia Bass Forum presents 'A Clinic with the Sound Guys', a comprehensive look at the nuances of pro sound, both for bass rigs and PA. A must for any musician looking to understand more about sound reinforcement! To be followed with an extended range bass and drums jam! Our panel of experienced, professional sound people will cover a wide variety of topics and take questions from the participants. Topics to be covered include; the physiology of sound, psychoacoustics, and how humans perceive sound, the frequency spectrum, what humans hear and what sound systems have to do to reinforce those sounds. A discussion will be held on the frequencies that are associated with the bass and how to make your sound cut through in a mix. There will be a discussion to help participants understand the “placement” of other instruments in the frequency spectrum. And there will be an overview on how to use a mixer and digital mixing techniques. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
