Sprouting from the brains of Brazilian natives Alex Köberle and Emiliano Benevides and Americano bassist Carl Remde, Bat Makumba is the crossroads between the traditional music of their equatorial homeland and the punk, rock and funk influences of the US and UK. The second CD ‘Boteco’ is an artful mixture of neo-futuristic traditional Brazilian rhythms with the right quantity of the best North American spices. It is funk and rock boiling and baking with samba, maracatu, frevo and baiao.
