HOOKERS MADE OUT OF COCAINE, BAT LORDS & TBA $5 DOORS: 8 PM / SHOW: 9 PM HOOKERS MADE OUT OF COCAINE: Formed around 2006 as a two-piece (Roth and Archibald), HMOOC wrote numerous songs as well as reviving Smashy Smashy (Roth+ several rotating members). HMOOC recruited guitarist Brian Simakis (who later recorded HMOOC's debut album) for a short stink. Unable to find a crowd for their style of music in Columbus, Ohio, HMOOC went on hiatus. At the end of 2011 HMOOC reformed and around the time of Columbus' Dude Locker (a DIY warehouse event held in October, annually since 2009), recruited James R. Fisher to pick up the guitar. This worked out very well and HMOOC went on a one week tour of cities surrounding Ohio, which coincided with the release of their debut 12" record "Ben Franklin Also Invented This..." The record was released solely outside of Columbus, Ohio, as there was not much of an audience in their hometown. A few record stores picked up copies but sales were meager. In September of 2012 HMOOC hit the road again for a 2 week tour, again in cities surroundiing Ohio. At this point the band realized it was time to play mostly on the road. HMOOC plans on one more US tour before taking it to Europe, slated to take place in July 2013. That's it so far. More soon. BAT LORDS: “Masks beneath masks until suddenly the bare bloodless skull.” ― The Satanic Verses. Then emerged from the cave came The Bat Lords, who above all else, crave destruction, doom and despair. And they sent their flock into the wild to bring about unholy carnage, for it pleased them so. And from their catacombs, they saw the darkest despair, and lamentations of the suffering and they were pleased. For upon their heads the Bat Lords wore Crowns of Torment. And only the torment of others could they find true meaning to the pain. And it pleased them so. Amongst the cursed dead, The Bat Lords would raise drink and sing of their minions Triumph and destruction...Thus it began and shall always be.
Local musicians play their sets, then called back up to perform a genre complete opposite of what they are used too. No one wins, but we all laugh , we cry, we have a good time, more importantly, we drink!
