With a tropicalia-influenced psychedelic garage pop sound, Batata Doce was founded as a duo in 2007 of Brazilian singer Leticia Arioli and guitarist Russell Owens. The lineup grew to include Justin Hughes (ex-Rock*A*Teens), Justin Sias (ex-Elevado), Todd Morrison (ex-Pistolero) and Todd Barnett.
