"Up and coming Reggae band Basic #5 brings their unique brand of music to The Depot on Friday. The "Texas Roots" band was formed in April of 2011 from the bones of long time local Reggae band Hostile Hippies, by its former singer and founder, Preston Hall. The newly formed band has dubbed its sound "Roots/Rock/Reggae" and is on display at The Depot at 10pm Friday. In addition to Hall, who has shared the stage with artists including Cas Haley, Jah Roots, SOJA, Josh Heinrichs and other national Reggae greats, Basic #5 features Chris Yates, formerly of local Metal band Jolly Llama, Justin Cox, formerly of Left Hand Salute, and Dru Robertson, formerly of Six Bullet Roulette. The band diverges from the traditional Reggae formula by adding bluesy guitar overtones and fat booming bass lines, along with dub and rock flavors to aim for a broader audience."
