About

Bashphelt are a hard working unsigned four piece from Lancashire, who in the last 8 years have developed their own distinctive and unique sound. They are highly committed to each other and since January 2007, their every move has been captured on camera for the documentary they are making. With persistence, a focused attitude and two TV appearances on T4 in the last 2 years, who knows what the future may hold for Bashphelt....

2005 - Bashphelt regrouped and commited to the cause in August. Previous to this, since their formation in 2000 they had always made a point of playing in their home district of Pendle, Burnley and Manchester as much as possible. This ensured a steady following in the North in between studying and travelling.

The main aim when they they regrouped was to get gigs further afield, concentrating on London. They kicked this off by playing at 'the Watershed' in Wimbledon and a sell out gig @ 'the Mean fiddler' in consecutive nights in November. They returned to London to Play at the 'Storm' showcase in December, before breaking off for Xmas.

2006 - Whilst continuing to play the Northern circuit, they visited London once a month before April to play gigs @ the West 1 4 bar, the Hope and anchor and the Hard Rock cafe. In April, they entered a competition on www.popworldpromotes.com and were crowned the first winners of the competition, fending off 550 bands in a public vote. This earnt them a prime TV slot on T4's POPWORLD, becoming the first unsigned act to appear on the show.

This success left Bashphelt's diary full for the rest of 2006, starting with showcases at 'the Garage', 'the Halfmoon', 'the Gibson guitar studios' and the 'Hammersmith palais'. They also played reknowned venues and festivals such as 'Manchester academy 2', 'Guilfest', 'Reading fringe festival', 'Lancaster University', 'Sheffield University' and many other UK dates that were announced week by week.

2007 - Bashphelt wasted no time by playing a showcase @ Ritz studios in Putney on the 22nd January. They had also began to film a documentary with Bryan Fieldhouse on the 20th January, which is proving to be a priceless asset to the band as progress continues.

On the 21st February, Bashphelt played at London's reknowned showcase 'Discovery talent' at the Soho revue bar, which attracted vital attention for Bashphelt from the media and press in London. After this they decided to keep touring and play out their remaining dates to keep the momentum and an intrueging vibe throughout the UK. One of these gigs in June was a sellout gig @ the 'Night and day cafe' in Manchester with 'Scouting for girls', who had recently hit number 1 in the UK charts. After this, Bashphelt played at Guilfest again and then went on to record 4 new tracks @ MJM studios with Mark Jones, Peter Gabriels live pro tools engineer.

August was a break for Bashphelt on the gigging front and was used as a time to introduce the new recordings to their fans. This was until they entered a competition called 'MobileAct unsigned' on www.mobileact.co.uk. Bashphelt were chosen out of 2000 bands to go through to the final 50 in the televised phase of the competition, where they gained more exposure on T4. This gained them more public attention and gigs @ the 'Camden Barfly', 'In the City' in Manchester, 'Clothes Show live' @ the Birmingham NEC and a clothes endorsement by Bench clothing.

The documentry continues and Bashphelt are currently writing new songs, which they are due to record with reknowned producers 'the Animal Farm' in London, February 2008. Once again......who knows what the future may hold for Bashphelt?....they certainly don't.

QUOTES:

"This four-piece North West band certainly put the ROCK into Hard Rock Café. With their infusion of Funk, Indie and rock they worked the crowds as if second nature. The arppegiated guitar riffs of Giz coupled with phat bass grooves and the steady grooving chops of drummer Baz, only added to the musical concoction that is Bashphelt." - popworldpromotes.com @ the hard rock cafe 2006.

"Music for the masses, only intelligent with sunshine hooks and killer choruses, that everyone can hum from plumbers to professors." - T4's Alexa chung.

"Guaranteed to get feet tapping with their melodic, yet versatile vocals, and irresistible funk beats, all steaming through infectious rock rhythms" - freshsounds.co.uk

"Bashphelt are most definitely the height of Northern talent. Tom, Giz, Richard and Baz are what can only be described as ‘exceptional' on their instruments, together, creating the musical Genius that is Bashphelt! It's my most highly recommended night out to go and see them!" - Hannah Hobley AKA Chantelle from ITV's 'Benidorm'
