Bad Boogaloo...?

This page is the intro.....the who , what, where, when...and thank God for the "TINTERNET.COM"...for all those lazy bands...who dont have friends to do this for them....yep that was a plug for someone to take over from achin' two fingered assault of the querty keyboard....read on at your peril......

Story so far.......out of the wreckage of a damn fine outfit called THE HOOLITS....that bona-fide rhythm section...."more solid than toblerone in the freezer"..and more chewy than a "Wham bar"....GET ON WITH IT...ok...ok.....erm'.....where was i.....Andy & Bruce were BACK....playin various toilets and some damn fine west coast boozers  with a cpl of geetar friends........they convinced the quiet unassuming one......Gordon that is......that his volume needed a tweek in the right direction......and as these things do...found themself a 3-piece..in B&B in Oban they busked a full set ...on the hoof.....the somehow got thro' the as gig promised......and the last 3 years are now history......not without the usual wreckage, carnage and general nonsense....that makes it what...damn good fun.......still with us........and like the proverbial cycle of making that connection as friends.....our long-lost soul mate Davy McFarlane is back......sook sook bla' bla'......the only guy we know that gets younger looking after every gig...must be the raisin juice in the hip flask........(hmmmm)

Anyhooooo......after that ramble a little introduction then....

Andy ....aka Slapper smith or Crusher........call him wot you want but be careful.......been playin bass since his tender teens (wants to forget schoolboy errors of spandex troosers)....dropped the regular bass around mid 90's for the double bass.A sort of homecoming and complete natural, he struggled with gettin that unique sound wanted to hear until now.......God bless ASHDOWN amps...check the pix! Self-taught and now self confessed genius in the studio.......well, his spare room in Castle Crush...where most of the mp3's were recorded...in glorious 16-bit digital....all live!! Best Double Bass player this side of Pluto!! (ok..so im biased...but we're joined at the hip...musically)....

Bruce....aka Boo-Boo...Bearded charmer......stick thrashin..skin whackin.....whole lotta...solid drums...been playin drums since PB (pre-beard) and muscled his way into the fold with Andy in a previous band.....maybe cos their both virgo's...maybe cos they both love The Cramps, DK's...Meteors.....Killing Joke...who knows...maybe cos they're both scally-wags...who enjoy a jolly good time......and hate sleep!!lol.....cue 17y later still together. Currently Brucey sports a mighty Black sparkly Gretsch kit.....with a ridiculous 26" BD....(just to annoy all sound engnineers.....i mean give them a challenge)......14t, 16ft, 18ft..and either his Gretsch 6.5 wood snare but prefers his AHEAD 13x6 black on brass........if its cymbals...its gota be Sabian.....all AXX.....large-ish sizes...still got me first hi-hats 18y old this year.......13" AAfusion hats....and aint found a better pair...yet.....hardware a mixture of pearl, gibralter......and current heads all Aquarian.(try em...dare u?).....sticks and stuff....gota be Vater. Favourite Bad Boogaloo song.......got 2 be "Fairies"......for obvious reasons.....

Gordon.......we think is probably the most gifted guitarist...unique in style and hugely talented.Not a self confessed natural front man.......however amazing dutch courage can be gained from belief in noise that we make together.......what a star......plus we've force some cool threads on him......woooooooo! A more caring & considerate human being.......you could meet.....makes us for all our sins......go back satan...go back and repent ye will...lol........Teaches Geetar..professionally and prefers to be lost on stage in any improptu ,free improvisation.......lasting as long as his strings will......known to be a fiddley one.....with much pedals and stuff...needs geetar tech!! (joke....any takers).....Zepplin.....dc.....and most Rock....Blues lover.......again like us all a most universal love of good stuff......Played in Germany..some time ago for a long time.....and suffered a unspeakable incident...that must never be spoken about.......ever.....no...dont go there...!! Currently axe collection of Gibson semi-acoustic dream & SG original.....MesaBoogie.....and pedals galore....!

Last...but no mean least.....the man who carries less gear up to his own flat...to envy of all yet makes that distinctive haunting yet melodic layer of noise you never knew the harp could make. 2nd guitarist and writes and has a whole back catalogue of tunes...to die for.....talented....uh-huh! Known throughout the circuit for previous bands such....as...Best Dressed Blues.....The Hoolits....and so forth......like us all just passionate about all things music........especially Bad Boogaloo. The more senior member only by previous birthdays.....but gets better every gig.........and younger.....how does he do that!! Plays harp like no other.....carries many in his pooch. Also Banjo.....dobro (spelling..??).....12-string....sings.....percussion with the loudest maracas in da world!! If he's not eat ,sleepin, breathin, playing music......he's watchin it......or cycling around......to pucker up the thirst for a frothy few in the Foresters perhaps.......never felt better having him back on board......... one of last hippys around.......cos we've seen the pix....lol

Last But no means least the Boogaloo Crew.....for duties above & beyond the call of duty, in no particlar order:

Vimto McNab (Gimpboy) - Inspiration, buttering up indviduals, sharp shooter of pix (have a look), CD distribution......and pint sized security!!

J.McAinsh (Jock Mc) - has the ear that Mozart cut aff in terms of an ear for a good or bad sound, studio inspiration, direction,CD distribution...and regular sized security!!

Keith (House sound engineer at Binkies) - adopted by "us" and the most talented man in front of a PA/desk who knows how it should sound...click'd.......from our first meeting......another wonderful human being of all things that sounds good...respect!!
