About

We are the Autumn Hollow Band. We’ve come to about as much consensus on the band name as five people from vastly different backgrounds can come. But it works.

I suppose that’s an accurate analogy to the music as well. The five of us likely intersect on only a quarter of our iTunes playlist. We see eye to eye on the main points and with a dash of all the rest thrown on top of Murphy’s songs, an overall sound is something we’ve grown to love.

We’re a five piece band. Brendan Murphy is the singer/songwriter, rhythm guitar player, and donner of trendy bifocals. Sometimes Brendan will say things like, “I hate the French,” but I think that it’s just part of his shock jock marketing strategy. Brendan gathered us together after recording his album “Jumped the Shark.” After having recorded the album with Eric Lichter, creating the sound of a full band for the album, he was then in need of some friends to play it all live with. Then came the rest of us…

Todd Sampson plays the drums like an angry antelope on Christmas morning. He formerly kept the beat for former mates, Lorntell, a Boston roots rock band. Todd enjoys wearing black and long walks on the beach. He’s been known to invoke the spirit of Tom Jones in the pants.

Scott Marucci is the bass player – (former singer/songwriter of Millis Pride). Don’t hold his height against him. He packs a funky punch on the bass and never ceases to smile while playing.

Mike Burke serves as the quiet, wise elder of the band. Mike has an astounding knowledge base regarding espresso, music, and lawn gnomes – any of which he will gladly discuss with you. In all seriousness, he’s a great sharer of knowledge. He should have gone into teaching.

Noel Coakley (me) is the jack of all, master of none. I play the banjo and pedal steel guitar for the band. Playing these instruments in Boston is often like breasts on a bull – somewhat strange, but sometimes they look pretty (and hey, they may not be the best set you’ve seen, but it’s better than none at all). I’ve tried rearing my head musically in a few other spots (sitting in with Girls, Guns, and Glory, Three Day Threshold, Tin Can Tele, and the Bowen Street Band), but I’ve found a happy home with the Autumn Holler boys.

We hope you enjoy the music.

Thanks for listening.
