About
Scott, born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, UK, played in his first band at the age of 19 but despite gaining local recognition he decided to quit and take a break from music before he eventually moved to Scotland.
Returning to live in the midlands in late 2005, he refound his love for music and began working on new ideas. Following positive feeback from friends he was encouraged to make these primitive instrumental recordings available online through myspace which he did initially under the name of 'The Northern Lites' before the birth of 'Aurora Low' in 2007.
Aurora Low began drawing attention in 2007 following a series of instrumental demo recordings. However, it was felt these tracks didn't represent what Aurora Low was aiming to achieve so the majority of 2008 was spent writing, practicing and developing the sound.
The Aurora Low sound takes inspiration from post-rock and shoegaze bands such as Slowdive, Ride, Sigur Ros, M83, The Radio Dept and Amusement Parks on Fire. Still drawing on the 'pop rush' of classic bands like New Order and the Smiths, it is still evident that melody remains at the core of every track.
Aurora Low is currently hard at work on new material which should be available in some form mid-2009 and with the ambition of completing the line-up and playing some live dates towards the end of the year.
