Q: How long have you been playing the sax? Was it your first instrument of choice? Why did you choose music as a career choice?

A: I have been playing sax for over 25 years including other wood wind instruments. My first instrument was clarinet which I started playing in high school band. I switched to the sax after high school and although I loved performing, I didn't give serious thought to being a full time musician because I knew that until you've paid your dues and built up a reputation it would be hard to make a decent living. I ended up being fortunate enough to have very successful careers in the banking and communications fields and as a business owner; all the while keeping up with increasing demands to perform at various clubs, venues and festivals across the country. After years of doing both, I realized that my real satisfaction came from being able to perform with world-class musicians, recording music, and traveling the world meeting new people, so I made the decision to form my own band and pursue music full time. It was the best decision that I've ever made and I've never looked back. I can truly say that it is the most rewarding career for me.
