About

Welcome to the Rich Segura (Atomic Blues Band) page! I am available for hire for studio work and/or gigs. I also give guitar and music theory lessons. You can reach me at: rseguramusic@gmail.com or atomicbluesband@gmail.com. Thanks for visiting. Please come back soon.

A brief history: Born and raised in Texas. I have been playing guitar since I was 10. I joined my first working band when I was 15. I studied Jazz Improvisation and Music Theory @ Del Mar College with Chester Rupe. When I was 17, I was featured as one of the up and coming premier guitarist in Texas Blues Magazine, run by Gene Kelton. I won the Austin round of the Guitarmageddon contest and was crowned Austin's King of the Blues in 2006. I have had the honor of sharing the bill with Chris Duarte, Doyle Bramhall Sr., The Birds, Rick Derringer, Screaming Cheetah Wheelies, Johnny Lang, Joan Jett, comedian Ron White and many others as well as being the backing band for the legendary Bo Diddly and Pinetop Perkins. In March of 2007 I had the honor and privilege of playing guitar @ Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago with the Legendary, W.C. Handy award winner Guitar Shorty. I played the One World Theatre on August 26, 2007 with Grammy award winners Sarah Fox and Joel Guzman (Aztex/Los Super Seven) I also played with Jimmie Vaughan, Lazy Lester, Stephen Bruton, Kaz Kazanoff, Greg Picollo, Joe King Carrasco, Al Gomez & Johnny Nicholas as well as many other music legends at the 10th Annual Big Band Bash. I have participated in the South By South West showcase on several occasions, playing many notable gigs; including live on ME television for their S.X.S.W. festivities.

I have been a part of many bands and the list continues to grow. Here are a few: Silent Slim and the Locomotives, Blues Farm, Aloha Dave and the Tourists, Sweet Potato Pie, The Michael O'Connor Group, Mike Guerra, Hambone Stew, DuneBilly, Dave "Bottle-Head" Miller, Kingfish, Rudolph Llanes, Dede Priest/Mike Milligan and the Altar Boys, Ponty Bone and the Squeezetones, Sarah Fox and Joel Guzman, Guitar Shorty & Spencer Thomas.

I am in the process of updating my profile and working on new projects. The Reverb Nation music player contains a few more songs than the MySpace player. *NOTE* The songs on this page are not professional studio recording mixes. Please enjoy them as they are... in raw form. Thank you.

The Atomic Blues Band is essentially “Sweet Potato Pie” and “Blues Farm” respectively. Our music has often been described as, “Funk-Infused Atomic Blues”, hence the name. I include info on any and all projects I am a part of here on this page.

Currently my main projects are Atomic Blues Band/Sweet Potato Pie/Blues Farm, Joel Guzman & Sarah Fox & Shawn Nelson. It has been a spell since playing with Spencer Thomas, Ponty Bone and the Squeezetones & Guzman/Fox, but they are still making great music. So far, any project I am in can be part of the Atomic Blues Band experience when the vibe is just right and the extemporaneous grooves are flowing free.

Recent projects include, Sweet Potato Pie, Sarah Fox and Joel Guzman, The Regulars, Spencer Thomas, Ponty Bone and the Squeezetones, El Tule, Guitar Shorty, Reno and the Groove Getters and various gigs with many other Texas musicians. Check out the Sweet Potato Pie page on my friends list for "Pie" specific goodies @ http://www.myspace.com/sweetpotatopiemusic. Also check out the following links for project specific information and WWW links: http://www.myspace.com/guzmanfox (Sarah and Joel/Aztex), www.PontyBone.com (Squeezetones), http://www.myspace.com/eltule (El Tule), http://www.myspace.com/guitarshorty (Guitar Shorty), http://www.myspace.com/spencer0thomas (Spencer Thomas). I have new songs on the way so stay tuned. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to visit. I wish peace and prosperity to the world always. May the God or Goddess of your choice be by your side every moment. Peace, Love and Blessings from above!

I would like to express my deepest appreciation, respect and love to all of my friends, peers and family that have made it possible for me to make music. Extra special thanks to Robert DeGraaf and all the crew at Sound Vibrations in Corpus Christi. The Best Music Store in South Texas! I encourage you to help keep music and fine arts in our schools. Do your part at your local level. Hold on to what few Constitutional Rights and Freedoms we still have left. Power 2 the People! Rastaman Vibration Positive! Get sent... Not bent. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised... It Will Be Live! Peace, Love and Prosperity.
