“ With New CD 'Traveler', A Splinter Makes Music that Gets Under Your Skin and Into Your Soul LOS ANGELES––It was November 2009, when Ashot Tadevosian's musical passion led to the creation of A Splinter as an outlet for his lyrical musings. Inspired by a broad spectrum of Armenian and mainstream artists such as Ruben Hakhverdian, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits and Vladimir Visotsky, it took just several months for the fledgling band to play their first show on April 2, 2010. That night, Byuzand Azizyan, Harut Hovsepyan, Armen Kvryan, and Lyudmila Grigoryan took the stage with Tadevosian but the latter three parted ways with the band to pursue their educational goals. In the last two years, the band has gone through a few transitions, with new members and instrumentation.”

“A SPLINTER TO BRING WORLD MUSIC TO HOLLYWOOD DURING SUMMER CONCERT (HOLLYWOOD, CA) – L.A. based Alternative world music band A Splinter is announcing their biggest solo concert of the year, at Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in Hollywood on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. The evening promises a mix of great food and music, as the concert, hosted by comedian Ara Basil, preludes with outdoor DJ sets by DJ Bei Ru and treats by Shanto’s Bakery. The band’s songs are written and performed in both Armenian and English, yet the messages are universal. With stories of friendship, betrayal, conformity and of course love, their songs celebrate the beautiful and sometimes the ugly, while hinting at some humor perching at the core of it all. Influenced by the likes of Ruben Hakhverdyan and Bob Dylan, coupled with Arabic, Gypsy and blues influences, the group takes the best from many worlds and delivers an originally eclectic sound of its own. asplinter.com asplinterband@gmail.com. ”
