“Ashlee Rose has a pretty good excuse for her absence from local stages of late. "I was working on Holland America cruise ships for 2 1/2 years, singing songs, just me and my guitar," she said. "I've been in Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and all over Europe." Ashlee Rose, born Ashlee Rose Beissner in San Antonio, grew up singing and playing guitar on local and area stages. Influenced by Dixie Chicks, Texas singer-songwriters Susan Gibson, Terri Hendrix and Katherine Dawn, Toni Price and Sheryl Crow, Rose mixed folk, country and rock. "I started singing the national anthem when I was 8. Little Ashlee Rose singing 'The Star-Spangled Banner.' I still remember all the words," she said, laughing. "I really like singing. I like the way it feels. I knew I couldn't hire a guitar player, so I learned to play guitar." Rose wrote her first song, "Drive," when she was 12.....”
