Born in Saratoga Springs New York, I grew up in Pittstown New York, a small town located halfway between Troy New York and Bennington Vermont.
Though Pittstown is a small place it happens to be loaded with musicians. You didn’t have to travel far to find a jam session. Many of my friends and family are terrific players. It’s a great place to be from.
I started playing guitar at about 15 as a way to put the thoughts in my head to music. As an added bonus it turns out that music is great therapy and just about as much fun as you can have.
I have always enjoyed the creative process and following an idea from concept to completed recording is what I enjoy most.
Nearly all of the songs listed on my page were recorded at home with inexpensive (as you can tell) equipment and my limited ability to play all or most of the instruments and voices. There are exceptions. I had help from time to time from some of my very talented fellow Pittstonians. The earliest of these recordings were done as the Blackstone Colson Band in a local studio.
I really have no idea how my music is perceived. I do it for myself and I like to share it with you and hope that you may find something to relate to or just enjoy it for what it is. Simple and hopefully pleasant to the ear.
