Shawn Rainer is a songwriter, rock drummer, and instrumentalist from Battle Creek, Michigan. Since performing in his first backyard rock band in the late 1980’s, Shawn has been an in-demand drummer for several bands as well as a solid “hired gun” drummer for studio work.
In between live performance and band projects, Shawn has recorded 9 solo albums dating back to 1991 bringing us to his latest release for 2010 titled The Common Thread. Shawn’s songwriting can also be heard in the material of several Michigan bands including SXX, 4 Stroke, and Paupers Field. His sense of timing and dynamics on the drums are well apparent in his writing colaborations.
Currently, Shawn is the drummer and a founding member of the Kalamazoo hard rock band SXX, they maintain a regular schedule of live performances. He also performs occasionally with his 1990’s band Paupers Field. Shawn’s drumming will also be heard on a new album from former Twitch member Chris Bryers which is currently being recorded.
Shawn is available for solo acoustic gigs, or as a small electric ensemble. He plays a combination of solo material, cover songs, and popular songs he has written or co-written with SXX. Shawn is also available for recording drum tracks, drum and rhythm programming (Fruity Loops), and background vocals.
