Inspired by punk and alternative bands of the 80’s and 90’s, Courtesy Call blends a variety of musical interests to create a rock sound that is provocative and fresh. Fronted by the crazy and sexy Elyssa Lee, and backed by the hardest hitting drummer in the scene, Brooklyn Reiff, heavy bassist, Silkin Corson, and guitarist extraordinaire, Darin Goslar slam their electric energy all over the stage. Their ridiculous and captivating performances have evoked more than one comparison to high-energy bands of yesteryear; while the music has been compared to the likes of No Doubt, Social Distortion, The Hives, and The New York Dolls. Their music and attitude carry a message; they promote peace, love, and anarchy through self-governance and personal responsibility, as opposed to the “F--- the world” view of the masses. Their upcoming album, projected early 2013, will be the first full EP the group has released. An emotional collection of songs written during a trying struggle to find themselves and their sound, the EP encompasses the pain of falling in and out of love and fear, with just enough sugar pop to sweeten the obvious dejection in the lyrics. Taking the incredible experience of recording with Joe McGrath, Grammy award-winner and multi-platinum producer, (BB King, Blink 182, Green Day), and using the knowledge they gained from his mentoring on their 2010 EP, Courtesy Call began putting down tracks at local Reno studio, Sierra Sonics in September of 2012. Wanting to keep the passion and raw feel of their live sound, the band has worked closely with engineer Doug Vaughn, to produce this currently untitled release. In addition to local dates opening for national acts at The Knitting Factory and The Alley, the bands spring schedule also includes a full length music video with the talented Johnny B Films, a local videographer whose talents are in demand by some of the freshest names in high fashion. The video, in part, will be recorded in bands rehearsal space, Musicians Rehearsal Center, with much collaboration with local and regional artists for costumes, sets, and whatever other craziness the band and director, Johnny B Hicks come up with. The first single, with accompanying video, is planned for release in Spring of 2013, followed by many regional tour dates to be announced with the release date of the album.
