Mittenz is a trio of female powerhouse musicians reigning from Toronto, Ontario (Canada). With singer/guitarist Emily Bones, best friend Mary Deth on bass/vocals and Youtube sensation drummer Lindsay Bird, this pop/rock/punk band has become unstoppable. Their influences explain how they can range from the Distillers to the Dixie Chicks, with a side order of No Doubt. From their matching outfits, to communal ways of thinking and songwriting/harmonizing; their guiding philosophy will demonstrate how one Mitten is never complete without the other. They are currently finishing their debut E.P "All Stringz Attached" which is set to be released in the Summer of 2012.
Mittenz has performed all across Toronto in many well known venues such as the El Mocambo, The Silver Dollar, and C’est What (to name a few). They have also been apart of many well established events in Toronto such as PRIDE week, NXNE, YOUTH DAY, GrrrlVIRUS and The Cabbagetown Festival. Mittenz has contributed to many non-profit community events, as well as charity/fundraisers such as “Bad Wedding” (a PRIDE party for HIV held at the Gladstone Hotel), MusiCounts Charity (Canada’s Music Education Charity to keep music programs in schools), Girls Rock Camp in Mississauga (fundraiser was held at the Courthouse in Toronto), War Child (“Busking For Change” at the Supercrawl in Hamilton, ON) “Pinktober” (A fundraiser for breast cancer research, held at The Hard Rock Cafe in Niagara Falls, ON). Emily and Mary Deth had also created a month long event to raise money in support of Haiti’s disaster relief called “Hands For Haiti” which as held at the Bleecker Street Co-op in Toronto.In the summer of 2011, Mittenz ventured into a few towns outside of Toronto, ON. They performed at the Summerfolk Music, Arts & Crafts Festival in Owen Sound ON, The Hard Rock Cafe in Niagara Falls ON, and the Gloucester Pool Marina in Muskoka, ON.
Plans for the future of Mittenz include touring throughout the summer, promoting their new album and continuing to write music for future records. They have been striving for 8 years and will continue along the turbulent road leading to success. Resilience has made itself their lifestyle; with hearts like lions and jewels for eyes.
