San Diego –based singer/songwriter Caresa Lynnett is more than just a natural born entertainer, Caresa was without a doubt born to sing! Caresa’s sound is inspired by her love for soul music, her appreciation for jazz and her respect for hip hop. Writer on local music, Bart Mendoza of The San Diego Community News Group describes Caresa as; “The newest sound emerging from the local music scene seems to be dance-oriented soul… One such singer and songwriter is Caresa Lynnett… Working with producers Sound Collage Musik, Lynnett mixes jazz, beats and R&B for songs that have the right blend of groove and bite.” Her effortless ability to connect with her audience through her smooth, rich, tone; sincere, lively personality and candid lyrics is sure to make this up and coming vocalist one many will fall in love with.
Caresa is set to release her first project “REBOUND the EP” Fall 2012, and will be available for download on iTunes and bandcamp.com. Caresa worked with dynamic production team/musicians, Sound Collage Musik (San Diego) to bring to life her story of love and heartache while going through a very emotional break up. “REBOUND” captures every sentiment felt as she jumped into recording as a form of healing. Her personal lyrics, and ability to be transparent will allow listeners to bond with Caresa not only as an artist, but as an individual. Caresa is currently performing at local bars and clubs in San Diego and collaborating with local artists, lending her soulful sound to their records.
Caresa is no stranger to performing, as kid and in the beginning stages of exploring her artistic abilities, she fell in love with dance, performing self-choreographed dances in front of her family and mimicking what she saw the dancers doing in videos of her favorite entertainers. Her parents supported her love for the arts by enrolling her in performing arts elementary, junior high and high school. In junior high, Caresa was surprised to find out she had a God given talent and began singing in choirs from 6th through 12th grades, being trained to sing Jazz and Classical music, performing at events throughout the state of California, and participating in choral competitions across the country. Caresa attended college and obtained her degree in Liberal Studies, but felt emptiness during her collegiate journey because she did not follow her heart and pursue her dream of a professional singing career. After graduating Caresa had to follow her heart and get back to her roots. In September of 2006, Caresa leaped out on faith, traveling to Seattle to audition for American Idol season 6. Not being chosen to move onto the next round did not discourage Caresa; instead it motivated her to make her dream a reality!
Caresa plans to continue writing honest lyrics and singing for a lifetime, inspiring others to follow their dreams no matter what they may be. Her goal is to share her testimony with any and every one who will listen, hoping to play a role in helping those who share her story. Music has the power to ignite change and Caresa definitely wants to be a part of the positive change that can be made through word and sound.
