Copenhagen based emcee Fax Lyrical (formerly known as Earshot)got introduced to Hiphop in the early 90s, while growing up in Malawi by a childhood friend at the age of 14. As kids, Fax and his friend would bang out beats on tables, recite popular raps of the time, beatbox and breakdance regularly. In high school,Fax got absorbed into writing poetry, garnering him two awards, and a number of live talent shows. The love of words and poetry remained with Fax into his University years, where he recorded tracks with classmates, organised and participated in on-campus cyphers.
As an artist, Fax approaches his lyrics from a substance-over-flow direction, focusing on sincere lyricism, with introspective concepts and topics. Fax draws inspiration mostly from alternative HipHop artists such as Mos Def, The Roots, Talib Kweli, Zion-I, MF Doom, Skillz, Self Scientific, Dilated Peoples, but also from undeniable greats such as Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap, Rakim, Nas and Jay-Z.
Earlier this year, Fax (under the name Earshot) teamed up with Espergærde based producer M.W.P to release a 5 track freeEP entitled 'The Soul Stretch', a soul-inspired piece of work boasting true school lyricism over smartly chopped soul sampled beats. Fax is currently working on a mixtape entitled 'The Undeniable Fax Mixtape' set for release at the end of the year.
