ABOUT LYDIA & PHIL
Songwriting team Lydia Fortune and Phil Nigro have been performing individually in the Worcester MA and regional area for over 40 years. They joined forces in December 2010 , blending their well developed eclectic musical styles, and produced their first CD If I Had My Way in 2012. They were recognized as finalists by the Great American Songwriters Contest International (2011) for the song “If I had my way”. This was a competition that featured songwriters from across the U.S.A. and 45 other countries. “If I had My way” placed in the top 100.
Their songs range from original contemporary and folk to early country and Delta blues. They are best defined under the 'Americana' musical genre. Past performance include opening twice for Roger Salloom and Charles Neville in Western Ma ((2011), and for Maya Angelou at the Hanover Theater, Worcester MA (2012). They’ve been featured at regional venues such as Black Briar Winery, Quail Hollow Country Club, Side Street Café, Boulder Coffeehouse, Nameless Coffeehouse, Amazing Arts Center open mic night and the recently closed Listening Room in Jaffrey, NH. Performances this year include the Beacon Hill Arts Festival, Boston and the John Henry's Hammer Coffeehouse concert series in Worcester.
You can catch Lydia & Phil at Worcester open mic venues such as the Folk’n A housed at the Canal Restaurant (every 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the Month) and the John Henry’s Hammer Open Mic Coffeehouse every 2nd and 4th Friday. Lydia is the host for that series.
