Jonny Manak and The Depressives / Bio

JM&D is a wild combination of rock n' roll influences from the 50's, 60's and 70's. There are elements of surf rock, rockabilly, rock 'n' roll, punk and garage rock littered throughout their songs. Jonny has played guitar, bass or drums in bands such as The Cliftons, Clay Wheels, Fang, Texas Thieves, The Forgotten, The Odd Numbers, The Resistoleros and a ton of other bands you'll never hear of. Influences include Chuck Berry, Dead Boys, Dick Dale, Link Wray, Little Richard, The Sonics, The Rolling Stones, Iggy and The Stooges, David Bowie, The Ramones, Johnny Thunders, bla, bla, bla... Since 2006, The Depressives have played 100's of shows throughout the West Coast and Europe. They've released 4 full length albums and 2 EPs on CD, vinyl and digitally on their own label Reach Around Records. The band consists of Jonny Manak on lead guitar/lead vocals, Bobby Wilcox on lead bass/vocals and Thor Dsr on lead drums. Their songs have been used in countless skateboard, snowboard and surfing videos, national tv advertisements (Wahoos Fish Tacos/Pepsi/Vans Shoes/Spitfire Wheels/Nike US Open of Surf 2012) Verizon vcast videos, skateboard documentaries, feature films (Nitro Circus 3D) as well as song placements in TV shows aired on MTV (Viva La Bam, Home Wreckers, Nitro Circus, Fantasy Factory, Maui Fever, The Dudesons, Ridiculousness), Adult Swim (Loiter Squad) Fuel TV (Vans Protech Pool Party) and Fuse TV. DICKHOUSE PRODUCTIONS (the makers of JACKASS) as well as the VIACOM NETWORK commission Jonny to ghostwrite music for their shows and films. The band was given the 2012 Silicon Valley Music Award for Best Punk. Needless to say, their music is getting out there.
