The band is a vocal and instrumental group with a diverse repertoire. They deliver a wide range of Blues,Rhythm & Blues, and Jazz that spans a variety of regional styles.

The band covers various artist and bands, such as; Bobby "Blue" Bland, Little Milton, Magic Slim, The Bus Boys, Bobby Rush, John Lee Hooker, as well as several originals.

Eugene Sings The Blues knows that the blues does not have to be sad, slow and depressing, but can be happy and alive for dancing good time.The show is tailored as appropriate for the situation. The group's versatility allows for easy transitions from entertaining laid-back dinner sets to energy-packed electric performances geared to create a party atmosphere and get the crowd on the dance floor.

Eugene Carthen has been singing in the Denver area for several years, performing on stage with local bands as well as national acts, such as; Sammy Mayfield, The Erica Brown Band, David Booker, Stanley Milton, AOA, Kenny Neal, Joe Moss, Lil' Dave Thompson, Rockin' Jake, The Delta Sonics, and The Larry Mcray Band.

The band conducts a blues jam every Wednesday night at Herb's Bar at 2057 Larimer St. since October of 2005.

The band consist of a vocalist, guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums.
Venues performed at: Herb's Bar, Lincoln's Roadhouse, Ziggies Saloon, The Midtown Beat, BB's on Pearl, Effin's Bar & Grill, El Chapultepec, Blues on Blake Supper Club, Chapultepec Too, Jazz@Jacks, and The Q Blues & Jazz Lounge.
