The Stereo Hogzz captivate audiences each time they hit the stage. Fusing together an R&B style with a hip-hop swag, the multi-talented quintet – Trae Badd, Jon Glenn, Just’n, and KG – are not your typical “boy band.” The Stereo Hogzz incorporate intense vocals, incendiary choreography and vibrant rap lyrics in each performance, leaving everything on the stage. They boast with confidence and eye-catching fashion sensibility – an edgy yet sophisticated appeal only The Hogzz can posses.
The group name, “The Stereo Hogzz,” came from the members’ ultimate goal of having their music played on every radio station in every genre of music; in other words “hogging every radio station” on the stereo. Hailing from Houston, TX, The Stereo Hogzz first came together in 2007. At a point in their lives, each member went to school with another member of the group, whether it was elementary, middle or high school. Jon Glenn, Just’n and KG were the originators of the group, having been former classmates in high school. They were a dynamic trio, well versed in choreography, rapping, and singing. Although they were a talented triple-threat, they needed to fill missing links to market them as new and innovative in the music industry. Needing another singer, Jon recruited former elementary school classmate, Trae Badd, to fill the last piece. With Trae Badd’s electrifying dance moves, commanding stage presence and extensive industry knowledge, he was the final piece to put The Stereo Hogzz over the top.
The chemistry between all four artists immediately proved forceful, from their first session in the studio to their first public performance. The Stereo Hogzz put their passion for music in each song, writing original lyrics and creating their own harmonious sounds. They blend music from R&B greats of the past with their own modern sound, apparent in their first mixtape Celebrity Sex Sandals. As artists, The Stereo Hogzz take creative control over all of their work, from song beats and lyrics to video production. The Stereo Hogzz have made a name for themselves in their hometown, performing at various venues and highlighting their own shows across the city. The Hogzz have opened for many major artists including 112, Franchise Boys, Frankie J. and Houston’s own Trae the Truth. In the summer of 2009, they journeyed to Los Angeles for the BET Awards and opened for comedians Tony Rock and Dave Chappelle at the legendary The Laugh Factory, creating a major buzz around The Stereo Hogzz in Southern California.
In June 2011, The Stereo Hogzz began their journey as contestants on the first season of Simon Cowell’s “The X-Factor USA.” It was undeniable that The Stereo Hogzz were top contenders in the competition the moment of their first audition in Dallas. The Stereo Hogzz were the one and only pre- formed group to make it to the finals, out of the thousands of other groups who auditioned across the nation. Each week, The Stereo Hogzz stunned “The X-Factor” judges and audience, conquering each performance and making each song their own. Incorporating their explosive choreography, chilling vocals, and even venturing into acting, The Stereo Hogzz held nothing back and brought everything to the stage.
“The X-Factor” provided them with the perfect platform to showcase their amazing talents, reaching millions of viewers worldwide and establishing their diversity as artists. Their mentor, singer/choreographer Paula Abdul, praised them for their exceptional work ethic, teamwork and willingness to go above and beyond. After one epic performance, record executive L.A. Reid stated “You absolutely have what it takes to be a star.” Simon Cowell proclaimed his respect for The Stereo Hogzz, declaring “Not only do I think you are one of the best groups I’ve seen on one of these competitions...I don’t think there is a band in the world right now who are as good as you.”
The Stereo Hogzz have an explosive fan reaction, earning themselves thousands of fans worldwide and constantly stay connected with them through their Twitter page and official YouTube channel. Not only are they trendsetters, but are constantly evolving into becoming the best male group in the world. The Hogzz now reside in Los Angeles and are currently working on their second mixtape, set to be released in April 2012. They have the magic combination that the record industry has been searching for. Simon Cowell sums up The Stereo Hogzz best: “a master class of choreography, vocals, and charisma.”
