Thousands of years ago, Satan had a partial birth abortion and buried the remains deep beneath the brutal permafrost of Antarctica. Several millennia of gnawing later, something emerged from that merciless tundra; something metal.
And so Ritual was born.
Asheville's premier purveyors of progressive sludge metal serve up darkness - with a side of death. Influences ranging from Dissection, Baroness, Sleep, and Mastodon, to Olivia Newton John have sired a remorseless power trio that is nothing short of a monstrous juggernaut of decapitation.
Drummer Dustin Allen specializes in Latin-tinged Holocaustbeats surging with the force of a long-dormant volcano erupting metamorphic chupacabra semen into your every orifice. Filling out the rhythm section is thunderous Ben Melton, who has a long tongue. Finally, the circle is completed, and then broken, by the stylings of Paul Blackwell on lead guitar, whose Promethean riffs bring to mind Jon Benet Ramsey vomiting crude oil into your mouth. But this band is more than just the sum of its parts; Ritual has been summoned by destiny to redefine a genre. And one thing's for certain: when Ritual takes the stage, Asheville can't help but boogie!
