Tyrannosaurus Chicken / Bio

"well, what do we call them?

."Seeing as how their energy is pure white lightning moonshine and the energy they inspire in the crowd is right out of a rave, we tried "hickstacy" for a bit, but that's disparaging in spite of our best intentions...We've thrown around the term "deconstructed blues party music but that's a bit cumbersome..So when my friend and better musical half Marshall drilled my shoulder with his fist and said "hey — I've got this! They're 'psychedelta!' " the term was instantly coined, gilded and ready to fly." -John Tarpley

from the band: (this is rachel speaking :)) if i were to have to say anything about us i'd just say that we are doing what we love. music is the thing that makes us both the most happy. Bob identified with the delta blues from the very beginning growing up in a small town, where he was exposed to it by his father's friends from the coal mines. after i got back from college I heard our family friend Smilin' Bob play some delta blues and felt instantly hooked so it must have been meant to be. It's been probably 50 years for Bob, playing the blues since he was 10, and about 3 years now for me - with the blend of old and new we came up with Tyrannosaurus Chicken and it has taken over our lives in a wonderful way.

We know we are lucky to be able to do this and we owe it to all of you who come to our shows and share our music with your friends, week after week and town after town.

we don't ever know where we'll go next but we're always excited to book the next show and meet new people. it's our highest joy to hear that someone is actually listening to one of our CDs - that they heard something that expressed something they themselves were feeling or that they just wana dance when they hear us play.

we hope to get to know as many of you as possible - feel free to message us - if you have any ideas for us, we are open to suggestions as always :)

thanks with love,

the chicken
