Scott Cooper was born & raised in St. Louis, but has lived in Santa Cruz, CA for 25+ years. Scott has worked as a drummer with Delta blues legend Johnny Shines, Chicago blues legend Luther Tucker, Alligator Records recording artist Rusty Zinn, and Ben Ellman from Galactic. Since 2006, Scott has been working as a guitarist in the Grateful Dead tribute band and jam band scene in the Bay Area, performing with Dead singer Donna Godchaux, and members of the Jerry Garcia Band, David Nelson Band, Great American Taxi, Dark Star Orchestra and many others. Scott has worked with numerous jam bands and bluegrass bands around the Bay Area including the China Cats, Gary Gates Band, Deep Blue Sea, Secret Chimp, the Intangibillies, Stackabones, the Banana Slug String Band, and others. Scott also teaches guitar at UCSC. His first solo CD "A Leg Trick" reached #5 on Relix magazine's jam band radio charts in 2012, featuring cameos from Bill Payne (Little Feat) and Barry Sless (David Nelson Band). Scott released the acoustic follow-up "Jack of All Trades" in summer of 2013, with cameos from Caitlin Cary (Whiskeytown), Dale Ockerman (Doobie Brothers), and Jim Lewin (Great American Taxi).
