Antonio James Acosta Sr. (born July 25, 1981 in Chicago, IL), better known by his stage name RiP. RiP is ½ CEO of BlockStyle ReCs, also an artist for the label, and the sound eng. Of BlockStyle ReCs.
Most of RiP’s childhood took place in South Hayward, CA but also lived 4 years of his life in Kansas City KC. He learned a lot of things in KCK,and one of those things was the appreciation of music. RiP was in high school when he realized he had a thing for djing and beat boxing. So RiP went out and purchased 2 Gemini turn tables and a 4 channel Gemini mixer and starting djing parties and making mixtapes for people. Once he met other peers that were into rapping RiP purchased 3 tape decks and a microphone and start to record and mix their vocals and ever since then he has been in to sound recording and sound eng.
Early Music Life
First official recordings and performances were done as a teenager with Funk House, and U-Ain’t Ready Production. Back then RiP was more known for his sound recording than his rapping, but RiP was always writing and working on the craft of rapping, and in 1998 RiP featured on a song with Dav., 211, and Mr.G.
Adult Music Life
RiP graduated Tennyson High School in June of 1999. He is currently ½ CEO of BlockStyle ReCs with his Brother Righteous witch he met in the army, and has accomplished many projects, such as “My Lyfe Chapter 1” recorded in Iraq in 2007, BlockStyle ReCs Presents “All Gas No Breakz Vol.1” recorded in 2011, “No Regrets” recorded in 2006, just to name a few. He currently has 11 other artist on his page, and working with his brother label Palmtree Ent. on his new solo mixtape called “At War With MySelf The Mixtape”. RiP has been featured on numerous other projects coast to coast . Projects such as Palmtree Ent.’s Drew The Duke’s album “Split Personality” and “BlockSterz and Mobsterz Vol.1” and Muddy Records LiL Evil’s “Street Godz” and LiL Tone and Chino’s “Neighborhood Alert” just to name a few.
