NEW 2-CD Anthology ~ GOVERNMENT CHEESE 1985-1995

Available NOW!

.....................................................

GOVERNMENT CHEESE brought punk rock to a small sleepy southern Kentucky town of Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1985. For 7 years they traveled in vans as they played all over the American south and worked their way as far north as NYC and as far south as Texas. After making it briefly onto MTV. Several of their songs – “Camping on Acid,” “Mammaw Drives the Bus,” “Fish Stick Day” – made it onto the national college charts.

20 years later, college and high school students treasure their memories of growing up dancing to Government Cheese. The band broke up in 1992, but many reunion gigs have happened since then. Their story has been immortalized in the cult classic book “Cheese Chronicles: The True Story of a Rock and Roll Band You’ve Never Heard Of” written by Cheese co-founder Tommy Womack.
