Pake Rossi’s three-week trek from Texas to Seattle, down the West coast and back, is the stuff great story songs are made of. After finishing his first record For All That It’s Worth, Pake and fellow songwriter Marshall Anderson got in his white van, aka “Vanna White,” and headed west. The result was empty pockets, a handful of timeless stories and most of the material for his recently released second record, Mercy of the Mountain. Highway adventures, heart break and curious characters fill the songs lyrically while rising star producers David Beck and Paul Cauthen (Sons of Fathers) insure the songs are compelling and easy to listen to. With all-star players like Corby Shaub, (Ryan Bingham and the Dead Horses) Kim Deschamps (Charlie Robison, Bare-naked Ladies), and Dees Stribling (Sons of Fathers), the album blends folk and rock, while maintaining a solid country backbone. Mercy of the Mountain was released on March 12th 2013.
