Paul Thompson is a singer-songwriter from Norfolk, England. His music has taken him around the world, performing across Europe, the US and Canada as a solo artist. Drawing on musical influences such as Neil Young, Nick Drake and James Taylor, Paul has developed a style of his own using a loop box in live performances to capture his multi-layered approach to song writing.
Paul writes and records all the parts to his songs at his studio in North-Norfolk, and he is currently completing his third CD. The songs were written following a tour of Alaska and Canada, 3 months spent travelling solo across 5,000 miles, exploring some of the most beautiful landscapes in North America.
His incredible journey took him from Anchorage to the remote islands and peninsulas of Alaska such as Sitka and Homer, before crossing into the Yukon in Canada. Performing to warm and appreciative audiences, Paul made his way through Vancouver Island, British Columbia and the Rockies, completing his tour in Calgary. Paul kept a blog of the tour, which can be found at his website,www.paulsmusic.co.uk, and which he will be keeping updated with news of his next big adventure...
Paul is currently planning a UK tour in summer 2015...by milk float! Using a specially converted milk float that utilises solar panels to power stage lighting and a small PA music system, Paul will be travelling the length and breadth of Britain, doing 3 to 4 shows per week.
Performing at music festivals, centres for green technology, traditional music venues and ‘off-grid’ locations such as National Trust Parks, part of the proceeds of the tour will be given to charity, and after the tour is completed the milk float will be used for community music projects around Norfolk.
